On Saturday, October 27, 2018 the bi-annual ASO Halloween Concert returns with a strong dose of fun and humor. The ASO Halloween Concert began in the early 1980s and quickly became an audience favorite. Expect to see the full ASO orchestra in costume, 2016 favorites were the Three Blind Mice flutists, and Dead Bride Concertmaster. Additionally, you’ll experience several costume changes by Maestro Richard Sowers. His costumes tie in to the theme of the music, so you’ll never know what he’ll be wearing next. The costume fun doesn’t end on stage, audience members are encouraged to dress-up and children can participate in a costume contest and parade!
Music featured on the concert runs the full gamut from classical favorites like Night on Bald Mountain to a medley from, famed Broadway Show, Hamilton. Tickets for the ASO Halloween concert range from $25 to $35. Student tickets are $10. ASO Kids Club members have free admission. The concert begins at 7:30 pm, and doors open at 6:30 pm.
Prior to the concert, the ASO children may enter the costume contest in the Marquee Room on the second floor and try out a variety of instruments in the instrument petting zoo. These programs were generously sponsored for the next three years during the ASO’s 50th Season Gala. Legacy sponsors are Ricker’s, Hoosier Park, Community Hospital Anderson, The Anderson/Madison County Visitor’s Bureau, Myer’s Autoworld, St.Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and Bettagere Orthodontics.
