INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA – JANUARY 25, 2017 – The Comcast Foundation announced today that it has awarded more than $140,000 in grants to nearly a dozen nonprofit organizations in Indiana in 2016. The grants help grow the impact of programs aimed at the Comcast Foundation’s three areas of focus – expanding digital literacy, promoting service, and building tomorrow’s leaders.

Girls Inc. of Monroe County, 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fort Wayne are among the many local organizations that are making a significant difference in the community and were supported by the Comcast Foundation this year.

Amy Stark, the director of Girls Inc. of Monroe County, says their grant from the Comcast Foundation will mean a lot for school and summer programs. “This generous support will allow us to expand our Girls Inc. University summer institutes for middle and high school girls, and to purchase video and sound equipment for our girls to use all year. We are grateful to Comcast Foundation for providing this funding, and for continuing to support our work.”

“Comcast is proud to award these grants to our partner organizations with whom we that share our a commitment to improving communities and enriching lives,” said Matt Kelley, community and government affairs senior manager for Comcast in Indiana “Thanks to the diligent and valuable work of these nonprofit organizations, we are able to help future leaders use technology to reach their full potential.”
