Local Coupon Booklet Aimed to Benefit Animal Protection League, Build Awareness
ANDERSON, Ind. – Oct. 5, 2016 – Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will host the Animal Protection League (APL) for the fourth annual FUR-Long ‘Walk in the Park’ on Sunday, Oct. 9 beginning at noon, with registration starting at 11 a.m. The event will allow participants, as well as their dogs, to walk around Hoosier Park’s 7/8-mile racetrack to raise money and support the mission of the APL. The APL is dedicated to protecting and saving abused and neglected animals of all kinds. From dogs and cats to horses and exotic animals, the APL finds new, supportive homes for the surrendered and abandoned.
The APL and Hoosier Park Racing & Casino have been ongoing partners in raising awareness and funds to improve the care and increase the adoption of animals in need. In 2015, the APL raised $71,000 through its partnership with Hoosier Park.
“Together, we’ve been able to shine a light on the growing number of animals in need of adoption and loving care in Anderson and Madison County,” said Rick Moore, Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing. “We’ve raised more than $173,000 with the APL to date, and it’s truly remarkable to witness the outpouring of support from our community each and every year.”
FUR-Long participants as well as those who would like to support the APL are encouraged to pick up a free APL Savings Booklet at Club Centaur Rewards in Hoosier Park Racing & Casino starting Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. The booklet features photos and stories of rescued pit bulls and their adoptive families, along with more than $100 in great community cash offers, dining discounts, and more.
All Hoosier Park guests who donate a minimum of $10 to the APL through Club Centaur Rewards will receive $10 in free slot play. Guests who donate a minimum of $20 to the APL will receive a FUR-Long t-shirt.
Additionally, guests attending the FUR-Long are encouraged to donate pet food, clay cat litter or pine pellets. All donations will be matched pound for pound by Hoosier Park. Those wishing to make a donation directly to the APL can do so via www.inapl.org.
